The future of Internet radio is in immediate danger. The Copyright Royalty Board in Washington has more than tripled the royalty rates for webcasters. The increase will range anywhere from 300% to as much as 1200%. These rates come into effect on May 15 and are retroactive to Jan 1, 2006!! Without Congressional action the majority of webcasters will go bankrupt and silent on this date.
I know that this doesn't affect everyone, but it is a huge blow to independent music artist. It will also take away some of the best radio stations I have ever had the pleasure of listening to. I am begging everyone, please go to
[link] and send a letter to Congress to let them know that this isn't right. Please also let your friends know and get them to do the same. The more people that send letters, the better the chance that Congress will get off their backsides and stop the Copyright Royalty Board from killing Internet Radio.
Here is to hoping that we the people can make a difference and save something worth keeping. You all have my personal thanks for your time and help in this as well.
Sincerely
Tori
